What is Istikhara?

I would like to tell you what is Istikhara and what is the method of doing Istikhara. Istikhara is beneficial and not doing it is harmful. Or it can be harmful. Because in this Dua and Namaz, a person consults his Lord.

Istikhara should be done for such a task which the mind is not able to make a single decision. Should I do this work or not? Should I do this work or not?

Meaning of Istikhara

Istikhara is an Arabic word. It means asking for goodness. Consulting someone for goodness. Because in this Dua and Namaz, a person consults his Lord. Should I do this work or not? That is why it is called Istikhara.

Istikhara is beneficial and not doing it is harmful. Or it can be harmful.

Teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) on Istikhara

The Prophet said that the one who does Istikhara will not be harmed. The Prophet used to teach the companions about Namaz-e-Istikhara. Hazrat Jabir said that the last Prophet of Allah, Muhammad PBUH, used to teach us Istikhara in all the tasks, just like he used to teach us the Surah of the Holy Quran.

Method of Namaz-e-Istikhara

Listen to the method of Namaz-e-Istikhara. When someone wants to do a task, he should recite two rak'ahs of Nafl. And now ask for this Dua.

Dua Details and Word Usage,

Alama Ibn-e-Aabideen Shami says, in this Dua, if you wish, you can use the word Haajat instead of Haadhal-Amr. Or if you wish, you can use the word Haadhal-Amr instead of Haadhal-Arabi.

For example, Haadhal-Safar. Because if you are doing Istikhara in relation to Safar, you can use the word Haadhal-Nikah, Haadhal-Ittijarah, Haadhal-Bai'. If you don't know Arabic, you can use Haadhal-Amr instead of Haadhal-Nikah.

It is important to recite Alhamdulillah and Durood Sharif at the beginning and end of this Dua. In Surah Qul Ya Ayyuhal Kafiroon, and in Surah Qul Huwallahu Ahad.

Istikhara and Dreams:

Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan says, if you recite two rak'ahs of this Dua while sleeping, then you will sleep facing the direction of the Qibla. If you see green or white water or light in your dream, then it is a sign of success. If you see black or muddy water or darkness, then it is a sign of failure and failure.

If you do this for seven days, Insha'Allahul Kareem, you will see a sign in your dream.

Repetition and Heartfelt Intention

It is better to do Istikhara seven times. It is mentioned in Hadith, O Anas, when you intend to do something, consult your Lord about it seven times. Then ponder over what is in your heart. No doubt, there is goodness in it.

After doing Istikhara, 

if there is no sign in your dream, then you should concentrate on your heart. If there is a strong intention in your heart, or if you change your mind about doing something or not, then it is a sign of Istikhara. And you should follow your nature.
