Today I’ll tell you some techniques due to which not only your data but also your money gets stolen.
At number one, we’ll keep the call forwarding technique.
This is a technique.
What happened in India?
There was a businessman at an airport.
A woman asked him for his phone.
Saying, “I have an emergency, I need to make a call.”
The businessman gave her the phone.
And then he boarded the flight.
And when he got off the flight,
he received a message that one million rupees had been deducted.
He checked, another five lakh were also gone.
He quickly panicked and turned off the phone.
Saying, “My money is going.”
“How is it going?”
What happened with him?
What happened was that the woman
had inserted a call forwarding card.
And after that, his OTP
started going to that number.
These days OTPs are coming through calls,
they were going there and his money
kept getting deducted.
When he
turned off the phone,
first, he was on a flight,
due to airplane mode his money was going
because his phone couldn’t be accessed.
Secondly, the call forwarding
card was forwarding calls to another number.
But when he landed,
he called his secretary
and said, “My money is getting deducted.” She had the SIM blocked.
When the SIM was blocked, automatically
its access ended.
Then more money started going.
Another twenty to thirty lakh were lost. This is one technique.
This call forwarding technique.
What they needed to do was just dial a code
through which they could’ve avoided the scam.
They just had to deactivate their call forwarding.
Second is
SMS or call spoofing.
In this, a setup is created.
Some systems are placed, and through that
they can call
from any number to any person
or send messages.
And not only can they call or message,
but also talk in the same voice.
They can even make WhatsApp video calls.
With the same
picture appearing,
from the same number, in the same voice.
This is called SMS spoofing or call
spoofing technique—you have to protect yourself from it.
How to protect yourself?
If you ever receive a call and someone asks you for money like this,
you’ll feel like it’s a relative,
or your son or brother,
or someone you know
who is demanding money from you.
You will give it, but what to do to avoid this?
To avoid it, whenever someone
makes such a demand, after receiving the call
you must call them yourself. Because
this technique lets them call you,
but they can’t receive your call.
If someone is calling you, you call them back.
If they pick up your call,
then it’s your beloved one, and you can
proceed. But if
someone is hacking or scamming you,
they won’t be able to receive the call.
This is a technique.
This is a very common technique—it’s the link scam technique.
What happens in this is—nothing much.
You just receive a link.
You click it, and your WhatsApp
can be hacked. From there, even your
online banking
can be hacked, and
whatever money you have
can be transferred. So this link scam
can appear as
discounts or vouchers.
We often receive messages that
an online discount is going on
on a certain website.
“This is the link, this is the
discount, this is the link.”
You should never
track unknown links this way.
You should never click on such unknown links.
This is a very big scam
which has spread a lot in India
and is spreading a lot in Pakistan too.
At number four, we’ll come to
barcode scan.
Nowadays, even small things
we check through barcode.
We scan through barcode.
Barcode scanning is rapidly
increasing.
And this too
works on the same technique.
You don’t know what you’re scanning.
By scanning that barcode,
your mobile gets hacked.
Through that, your transactions can happen.
