Muslims consider Laylat al-Qadr,
also known as the Night of Decree, to be a night of immense significance and blessings, when the rewards for acts of worship are multiplied. Additional acts of worship, such as the offering of noafil (volunteer prayers), are advised. The following are a few suggested acts of worship and noafil for Laylat al-Qadr:
1. The Night Prayer, or Tahajjud:
Offering the optional Tahajjud prayer at night is the most advised action. As the night of Laylat al-Qadr is said to bring great rewards for such prayers, it is strongly advised to offer additional rak'ahs during this time.
2. The Dua, or prayer:
The purpose of Laylat al-Qadr is to ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy.
During this time, making dua (supplications) to Allah for forgiveness, direction, and blessings is encouraged.
3. Quranic recitation:
Reciting the Quran on the night of Laylat al-Qadr yields great benefits because it is the night on which the Quran was revealed. Reflection and recitation of the Quran are appropriate at this time.
4. Dhikr (Almighty Remembrance):
It is strongly advised to participate in dhikr, or the remembrance of Allah, by repeating invocations such as SubhanAllah, lhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, and others. This promotes inner tranquilly and helps one receive blessings from Allah.
5. Charitable Giving:
During Laylat al-Qadr, charitable deeds are increased. It is a fantastic time to aid those in need because charitable giving during this period offers enormous rewards. .
6. Asking for Pardon:
"اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عني" (Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbu al-‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni) is a special petition to offer at this time, which means "O Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me." Although the exact date of Laylat al-Qadr is uncertain, it is commonly observed on the 27th night of Ramadan, which is said to be one of the odd-numbered nights in the final ten days of the month. Worship on any of the previous ten nights, however, is highly beneficial.
